Black Bayou Lake near Hosston is a scenic, shallow freshwater lake in northern Caddo Parish. Cypress trees, aquatic vegetation, submerged timber and a defined channel create classic North Louisiana fish habitat. It should not be confused with Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Monroe or Black Bayou Reservoir near Benton.

Best Areas to Fish
Cypress trees, submerged timber, vegetation edges, creek-channel areas and openings in aquatic vegetation can all hold fish. The lake is shallow in many areas, so seasonal vegetation and water level can strongly influence where fish concentrate.
Best for Beginners
Robert L. Nance Park is a good starting point for anglers wanting a launch, fishing pier and bank access in one location. Noah Tyson Park near Rodessa provides another convenient boat launch with dock. Boaters should move cautiously until they become familiar with the lake.

Black Bayou Lake at Hosston is one of several Louisiana waters with a similar name. When checking maps, fishing reports or directions, make sure the location is the Hosston/Caddo Parish lake.

Boat Launches
Black Bayou Lake has two developed Caddo Parish access points worth knowing. Robert L. Nance Park (14770 Odom Rd., Hosston) is a 20-acre park with a boat launch, fishing pier, bank-fishing area, paved parking, covered picnic sites, playground and restrooms. Noah Tyson Park (9300 Myra Myrtis Rd., Rodessa) is a 9-acre park along Black Bayou Lake with a boat launch and dock, paved parking, picnic pavilion, picnic tables, grills, playground and restrooms. Check Caddo Parish Parks for current access or temporary high-water closures before traveling.
Fishing License Information
A Louisiana Basic Fishing License is required for most freshwater anglers age 18 and older. Black Bayou Lake (Hosston) is not listed among the current special black-bass exceptions on LDWF's freshwater limits page, so anglers should review current statewide rules and any posted local restrictions before fishing.
