Loggy Bayou is a natural North Louisiana waterway in southern Bossier Parish and part of a broad bottomland system associated with Red Chute Bayou and the Red River lowlands. The Loggy Bayou Wildlife Management Area protects thousands of acres along the bayou and provides one of the most useful public access points for anglers. This is a natural, wooded bayou rather than a developed recreation reservoir, so water level, current and seasonal conditions can strongly affect fishing and navigation.

Best Areas to Fish
Bayou bends, deeper holes, current breaks, mouths of drains, woody cover and slack-water edges can hold fish depending on season and water level. Catfish and other river species often relate to deeper water and current, while bass and bream can use shoreline wood, vegetation and protected backwaters.
Best for Beginners
For a first trip, use the documented Loggy Bayou WMA ramp at the end of Poole Road rather than trying to locate informal access. Travel slowly until you learn the bayou, and check recent rainfall because natural waterways can change significantly after storms.
Visitor Tips
Loggy Bayou WMA is a multi-use public area with hunting seasons as well as fishing. Review current WMA schedules and rules before your trip, especially during fall and winter hunting periods. Flat River and Lake Bistineau are nearby waters worth exploring on the same trip.

Boat Launches
LDWF documents an improved boat ramp on Loggy Bayou on the southern portion of Loggy Bayou Wildlife Management Area at the end of Poole Road. Southern WMA access is from US 71 via Poole Road. Verify current road and ramp conditions before towing a boat to the site.
Fishing License Information
